Champak Magnolia Tree Seeds . 

 

HOW TO GROW MAGNOLIA TREES :


Step 1
Place Magnolia seeds into a plastic bag with some moist peat and/or sand. Label it with the date and place into the fridge for 8-12 weeks.

Step 2
Sow each seed roughly 2cm deep into a soil mixture of peat and sand. Soil may include any of peat moss, vermiculite or perlite. Small or medium pots are preferred. Cover seeds lightly and moisten the tray. Allow 4-5 weeks to see seedlings sprout.

Step 3
Transplant when plants reach 10-15cm in height. Move to part-sun position but away from frost. Water regularly during first summer.

Step 4
The final resting position can be full or part sun.Keep base mulched at the base for winter. Once established requires little water except for when flowering. Magnolia Trees take 7-15 years to begin flowering.

Magnolia champaca is native to tropical and sub-tropical regions of India, China and South-East Asia.

Magnolia champaca is also known as the Joy Perfume Tree after Jean Patou’s famous perfume called Joy.

The fragrant flowers are highly attractive to butterflies and bees and are popular in weddings across Asia.
