Coleus is certainly a favourite with many indoor plant lovers and it's obvious to see why. With their fabulous bright colours they are certainly an eye catcher. This species can also be grown outdoors in temperate-tropical areas, however they should be grown in a shaded location as direct sun can take away their amazing colours, however a little morning sun is fine. They can be a little fragile in areas that get quite windy also. Coleus does not tolerate cold or frost, so in temperate climates they should be outdoors only in a place that is protected from any frost - or in pots, where they grow happily and can either be moved to a protected location or indoors during the winter. Some Coleus varieties can also be grown in hanging pots!

Rainbow or Painted Nettle is native to Malaysia and South East Asia.
Many of the hybrids of Plectranthus scutellarioides have been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. 
Apparently Mazatec Indians of southern Mexico consume the plants leaves for its hallucinogenic effects. Please note that we DO NOT recommend doing this as not enough research has been done to know any potential side effects and contraindications.
