Northern White Cedar Seeds .
HOW TO GROW NORTHERN WHITE-CEDARS :
Step 1
Place seeds into a plastic bag with a handful of moist soil and label it with the date. Put the bag into the fridge for 8 weeks.Step 2
After 8 weeks, sow each seed on top of the soil mixture. Soil may include any of peat moss, vermiculite or perlite. Seed trays are preferred. Cover seeds lightly and moisten the tray. Allow 4 weeks to see seedlings sprout.Step 3
Transplant when plants reach 10-15cm in height. Move to full sun position but away from frost. Water regularly during first summer.Step 4
The final resting position should be in full sun. Keep base mulched until at least 1 metre high. Once established requires little water. Northern White-Cedar trees take up to 10 years to fully mature.

Northern White-Cedars are native to Canada and the United States but are grown worldwide as ornamental trees and hedges.
Northern White-Cedars are widely used for their medicinal properties, most commonly in treating warts, ringworm, thrush, headaches and constipation.
The leaves are rich in Vitamin C and has been used to treat scurvy. Essential oils are made and used in disinfectants, room sprays and soaps. The wood is used to construct log cabins, canoes and in construction.
White-cedar specimens found growing on cliff faces in southern Ontario are the oldest trees in Eastern North America and all of Canada, growing to ages in excess of 1,653 years.
