Jarrah Eucalyptus Tree Seeds .
HOW TO GROW JARRAH EUCALYPTUS :
Step 1
Seeds are best started in Spring or Autumn. Sow the seeds onto surface of seed raising mix. Lightly cover with another with a layer of soil approximately the width of the seeds (1-2 mm) and moisten with a light spray and keep moist (but not wet) during entire germination period. Leave in a well lit position out of direct sunlight.Step 2
Warm soil is required for germination with the ideal temperatures of 18-25°C/65-80°F. In winter, pots/trays must kept in a warm, light location indoors. If sowing in summer keep away from the full heat of the hot sun as this will dry out and kill young seedlings! Seeds should germinate after 2-4 weeks in ideal conditions. In conditions that are not ideal seeds may remain dormant until the conditions have improved.Step 3
Seedlings can be transplanted once they are roughly 20cm. A medium pot is ok, but can also go into the ground at this stage if required..As it can be fast growing, a support may be needed with a bamboo or wooden stake.Step 4
Transplant to final position after a last frost. Once established, will survive mild cold and is drought tolerant. Eucalyptus take 8-10 years to fully mature.
Height: up to 45 metres (150 feet)
Width: up to 7 metres (23 feet)
Jarrah Eucalyptus wood is commonly used to make furniture, musical instruments, for timber flooring & decking and as railway sleepers.
Due to the timbers resistance to water and rot, Jarrah is used to make wooden hot tubs.
Traditionally the leaves and bark of the Jarrah tree have been used as remedies for fevers, colds, headaches and snake bites.
