Manuka Tea Tree Seeds .
HOW TO GROW TEA TREE :
Step 1
Sprinkle several seeds onto the surface of each pot or seed tray filled with a moist soil mixed with sand. Manuka seeds need to be kept warm during germination (around 20 degrees Celsius/70 degrees Fahrenheit) and need a bright, sunny location out of direct sunlight. This can often be achieved by keeping them indoors on a windowsill or in a greenhouse. If this is not possible a heat mat can be used and the trays can be covered with plastic wrap to keep the moisure and humidity.
Step 2
Keep moist but not wet with a mist spray. Do not allow the soil/medium to dry out, this will kill the seeds. Seeds should germinate after 2-3 weeks.
Step 3
Once sprouted, move tray to sunny position. Keep soil moist but not too wet. Transplant the stronger seedlings into pots when they have 2-3 leaves. Part sun is preferred as they will wilt in warm climates.
Step 4
Once established, will survive cold but will not enjoy hot conditions. Additional water advised during summer. If leaves begin to yellow, its likely to be chlorosis. Lowering the soils’ PH to less than 6.5 will help. Manuka Tea Trees can take around 3-5 years to fully mature.
