The Chocolate Lily gets it's common name from the chocolate scent it has on warm days. Some people say it smells more like caramel or vanilla.
The tubers of this plant are edible and are eaten by Indigenous Australians.
This plant has two botanical names! Arthropodium strictum is the name used in Victoria, Queensland, Northern Territory and Tasmania. However in New South Wales it is referred to botanically as Dichopogon strictus
