Its broadly columnar with thick shoots. Fragrant flowers, 4 inches long, are pale purple outside and creamy white with purple spots inside. This fast growing tree is known for its showy flowers and large, ornamental leaves. Fragrant lavender, bell to trumpet shaped flowers are borne in large upright panicles as leaves emerge. Leaves are light green and hairy, to 1 foot long.
 
The Paulownia tree can be seen as one of the oldest plantation tree species in the modern world. The Chinese people have been growing Paulownia trees for centuries and believe the trees attract good fortune to those who surround themselves with them.
 
Has no significant disease or insect problems. Grows in almost any kind of soil, even toxic ones. A drought tolerant tree that's hard to kill.
