Red Dragonfruit Seeds Organic .
HOW TO GROW DRAGONFRUIT :
Step 1
Sow the seeds onto the surface of small pots filled with garden soil mixed with a portion of garden sand or perlite. Cover lightly, moisten and leave in a bright location that is not in direct sunlight.
Step 2
Check every two days to ensure soil hasn’t completely dried out. Mist when watering so soil is not completely soaked. Seeds should germinate in 2-3 weeks.
Step 3
Once sprouted, move pot(s) to a position where they will receive no more than 4 hours of direct sunlight each day. Transplant seedlings only when seedlings have outgrown their original pot. Keep in a pot(s) until after first winter so that they can be moved to avoid frost.
Step 4
Transplant to final position after last frost. Once established, will survive severe cold. Fruit begins 30-50 days after flowering. Additional water advised when fruiting. Dragon fruit plants can take between 4-6 years to begin fruiting.
Height: up to 10 metres
Width: up to 3 metres
Red Dragon Fruit is a native of Costa Rica but has been grown successfully from Canada to as south as Argentina.
The fruit is often called Pitaya and is often likened to the taste and texture of Kiwi Fruit.
The Dragon Fruit plant is part of the cactus family and therefore requires low maintenance and very little water.
