Grevillea robusta is an upright tree with attractive golden flowers in December.

Best for warmer areas, drought resistant, withstands coastal exposure.

Suited to good well-drained soils on the coast and western slopes.

Excellent windbreak, shade, honey and roadside tree.

 

The Silky Oak is a fast-growing large upright tree. It is the largest species of Grevillea. Produces 8cm - 15cm long bottlebrush shaped racemes of golden-orange flowers in spring and summer.

The leaves are dissected bipinnatifid, and look a bit like fern fronds. Leaves are 15-30 cm long with greyish white or rusty underside.

 

Trunk diameter can reach 1m.
