Silver Princess Tree Seeds .
As a smaller eucalypt, the Silver Princess is a stunning native that certainly has a bit of a wow factor with all of the colour it provides. With it's young branches being a shiny red and older branches and large gum nuts being a silvery white, it also develops fantastic pink-red flowers and has a weeping, pendula shape. Leaves are a deep green-blue colour, with young leaves being heart shaped while the adult leaves are a longer lance shape. Even it's peeling bark is unusual and decorative as it curls and peels away ... what's not to love! As a native to the south of Western Australia it prefers a well drained soil and a temperate - mediterranean climate. It can be grown in sub-tropical & tropical regions, but does not perform as well with humidity and heavy rains / wet soil.
Height: up to 6-12 metres (20-40 feet)
Width: up to 3-5 metres (10-15 feet)
The bark of the Silver Princess peels in an unusual fashion - in thin vertical strips. This is not a common way that bark is shed and is a habit only shared with a very small group of eucalypts. This type of bark is called minniritch bark.
The Silver Princess gets its name 'caesia' from it's unusual coloured branches & gum nuts. Caesia in Latin means bluish-grey!
The Silver Princess is native to a dry southern area of Western Australia, it can grow in most soil types and is also known as the 'Gungurru'.
