Echinocactus grusonii var. Albispinus, known as the White Barrel Cactus, is a lovely solitary cactus that has white spines unlike the more common Golden Barrel Cactus that has yellow spines.
Cylindrical, slowly growing to 90cm tall and 1 metre in diameter. The stem is pale green and heavily ribbed with numerous areoles sprouting radial, white spines.
Has 4-5cm yellow flowers. The flowers are produced only on mature specimens receiving enough full sun. The flowers are not very visible being small in relation with the size of the barrel, and lost into the creamy coloured wool at the top of the globe.
